Reserviour Dogs - What a pile of cack

Finally saw this film after years of hype, and what a piece of junk.

Can't believe its in the IMDB all-time top films.

Pulp Fiction was good, but this was no where near the mark.

The Rani 16 August 2006 01:33 AM

It's an old film. So what! I still like it.

letdown 16 August 2006 06:52 AM

I remember the first time it was released (Thurrock lakeside <shudder>). Watched it thought it was average at best.

Then I believe it was released again........Students got hold of it this time and said how 'crazy' it was...etc..etc. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz cult classic and all that toss.

The rest my friend is history.

Ipkis' Wifey 16 August 2006 07:16 AM

It's nothing special...

Iwan 16 August 2006 07:43 AM

I thought it was $hit too.

Scooby Snacks 23 16 August 2006 07:44 AM

It's the conversations they're having round the breakfast table that always cracked me up, especially the "theory" on Madonna's Like A Virgin!!

gatecrasher3 16 August 2006 07:45 AM

It is very overrated IMHO

davegtt 16 August 2006 09:10 AM

Great film IMO.

Reffro 16 August 2006 09:16 AM

Watched the first ever UK showing of the film, loved it then, and still do now. I agree Pulp Fiction is better, but that doesn't make Reservoir Dogs a bad film.

Fantastic film!

TelBoy 16 August 2006 10:12 AM

One of those films that's better the second time around, once you realise it's the dialogue you have to focus on, not endless car chases etc.

I have the special edition - 2 disc DVD - some excellent extra's on there!

What a soundtrack too! used to have "little green Bag" as my ringtone.....

It was unique to me for ages, as no one knew what it was called, or who it was by - then someone poached it off my phone via Bluetooth

What was the message behind this film? Didn't seem to go anywhere. it had a few funny lines in it but that convo at the start was aweful - no flow and over exaggerated. Hourses for courses really.

InvisibleMan 16 August 2006 10:52 AM

but its got no plot, no cgi, no pace, no big over the top action car chases where everything explodes like hirosima

of course not many are going to like it

davegtt 16 August 2006 10:53 AM

I know why you didnt enjoy it, you probably watched a cheapo remake.

The film you really want is Reservoir Dogs not Reserviour Dogs ;) :D

Rapid17 16 August 2006 11:07 AM

I would say it's a marmite film; you either love it or hate it.

Geoff.

lol @ Dave

rik1471 16 August 2006 11:26 AM

There are some excellent performances, it's superbly shot. I agree that it may be a little slow paced or lacking in action for some, but it certainly isn't cack.

GaryK 16 August 2006 11:48 AM

I think its dire and Im a tarantino fan, pulp is one of my favourite films of *all* time but RD is pants.

InvisibleMan 16 August 2006 11:55 AM

its an independent film rather than Hollywood, the two should never be mixed. If youre into hollywood youre less likely to enjoy the independents.

I think all of Tarantino's & his mate, Rodriguez(though not his mainstream ones hes sold too) makes brilliantly edited films & cracking soundtracks

I'd say that it's a b0ll0cks film, in that it's b0ll0cks. :)

Trainspotting was utter cr@p too, but that's a different thread entirely. ;)

Alas 16 August 2006 01:00 PM

Good film with some superb performances and good soundtrack. Plot a bit thin but hey, you can't have everything.:D

No, no, no, no NOooooooo.
One of my favourite films.

Choose life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family, Choose a f*cking big television, Choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players, and electrical tin openers.

Choose good health, low cholesterol and dental insurance. Choose fixed-interest mortgage repayments. Choose a starter home. Choose your friends.

Choose leisure wear and matching luggage. Choose a three piece suite on hire purchase in a range of f*cking fabrics. Choose DIY and wondering who you are on a Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing sprit-crushing game shows, stuffing f*cking junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pishing your last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, f*cked-up brats you have spawned to replace yourself. Choose your future. Choose life.

I chose not to choose life: I chose something else. And the reasons? There are no reasons. Who need reasons when you've got heroin?

From the original screenplay.;)

One of those films that's better the second time around
But it was sh*t first time round, why would I want to repeat the experience and waste another 100 minutes of my life?
