clutch judder
:freak3: Classic 99uk 60000mls its not really a problem (yet) seem to be getting a bad juddering in first gear more so when cold ive heard this can be a common problem, any remedies anyone or is it a new clutch and flywheel or just a new clutch a little help would be appreciated

'they all do that sir' or so you would be told by a dealer. It's due to the material used in the standard clutch when it gets dirty/wet/cold. A few full bore launches will get rid of it for a while, but then it will return. Yes the expensive option is to get another clutch, but dont bother unless its an upgraded one. Flywheel sbe fine, but theres no harm it gettin it skimmed while your at it.

It does it on my MY96. I think Its a problem with the standard clutch and can be fixed with a uprated one. Ive found you can reduce the judder though if you experiment different ammount of revs when pulling away

WHATS BEST
Ok ill try the heavy start cheers any recommendations clutch wise and whats the going rate engine is standard at the moment, not going to go mad but would like to add a few more horses

Clutch - exedy STi item, helix or organic.
Tek3 ecu remap n full decat exhaust from Powerstation will give you 260-275bhp n similar torque. I had this done on my MY00 and the car is transformed. Then once u get bored with that, get a bigger turbo, but then u might need a new gearbox :) |
There was a TSB for the judder here in the States:
http://www.scoobymods.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1836 I had my 99RS repaired at the dealer once the TSB came out. |
I had this on a MY97 when I bought it, took it straight back to the dealers for new clutch and flywheel, was fine after that. Didn't pay for it but I think it would have been about £800 IIRC.
