Newbie here

Hi all,

A good wealth of info you got here in the forums, all much appreciated. Hope when I finally buy one I can contribute.

I am living in Switzerland (although I am from London) looking to buy a Impreza WRX STi over here. I have found one which looks very nice (going for CHF34,950, which is about £15,500). Registered in March 2004, 1 owner, totally standard. Went to view it yesterday and it looked spotlessly clean and had a full service history. It's done 33,000km (approx. 20,000 miles) which I guess is average. Under the bonnet was clean, no oil, nothing dripping etc, although I realise this could be just the garage steam clean job!

I will be taking it for a test drive in the next week or so, what else should I look out for? Any tips would be great, trying to find a modern buying guide is proving tricky.

Also, what are the best tyres to have on it? Over here we have to have a Summer set and a Winter set, it's got winters on it at the moment, which are fine, but I fancy getting some decent summers thrown in.

If you're interested here is a link to the car: (click on the image to see more pics)

Many thanks,

Ade.

You can get a 2005 model jap spec which is much better then the uk spec.
For the same price

Haha, very good! Mind you, the way many of them drive over here you'd think they were all stuck in neutral!

Cheers for the welcomes, it's been a tough week :thumb:

Just a quick question on that - I'm buying the car in Switz, how can I tell if it's a Jap spec?? Are there any distinguishing features..

Well for one thing a Jap spec will be right hand drive.

stilover 16 August 2006 09:25 AM

I've heard Impreza's called alot of things, but never a limousine ???

ade748 16 August 2006 12:42 PM

Yeah, funny way of calling things over here!

Since it is left hand drive, it won't be a Jap spec then! Thanks, I hadn't thought about Japan driving on the left like the UK.

Well . . .

. . . .The car will have a lot of Japanese writing in it . . .:thumb: . .But more importantly, don't forget to fit it with a Swiss Army knife - which i believe is a legal requirement for safe motoring ( and is also considered the most advanced weapon of the Swiss Army . . :D)
