crap brakes
ok i have a 94 wrx with crap brakes so i put new disks and pads in the rear (the fronts were done not long ago) i recond all the calipers new seals pistons ect put braided hoses on and dot 5.1 fluid. so why are they still just as bad.
The car has no abs and no pedal feel. watching it on an mot test a couple of weeks ago he drove it across the yard and lamped on and the back wheels locked but not the front. I have just come back from a couple of weeks in wales and had to drive like a nun having lost all confidence in them. any one got a clue what i should look at next.:wonder: |
Buy some late model 4 pots thats a common 'cheap' mod for early imprezas.
You looking at about £250 for the calipers then discs and pads. The calipers are the problem not the discs or pads |
cheers but i have looked at that option and they wont fit behind my alloys.they were much better when i got the car so it may be the master cyl but its the non abs so i will have to have a look round.

First re-rebleed the brakes. Just to rule it out.
Now, here a question - are they Fast road pads on the front? I found this to be quite a problem on early scoobs, yet often neglected to be noted by many on here. And dispite some manufacturers claims to the contrary, they don't work when cool (and that includes driving along for any period without using the brakes). What you end up with the tendancy for the rears lock up (espcially if they are a different compound/brand). After 3 or so high speed/heavy stops the fronts are warm and start locking instead, then and all is fine, until they cool down again. If you perform this test and find this to be the case you need to look at the combination of pad material used on the front and rear. |
or more commonly cheap/poor front pads??
|
That would include EBC then LOL.
:D |
thanks for that the rears are standard not sure about the fronts i will try it out in the week.
