Squealing noise
For a couple of days ago the front offside wheel has been making a high pitched squealing noise and seems to be getting worse...any ideas...was told it could be the bearings and not being very "tech minded" i dont have a clue,
any suggestions |
Are you sure its the wheel it could be the brakes.
You could jack the car up to see if there is any play in the wheel if there is it could be the bearing. |
could be the wear indicator on the brake pads, this gives off a squeal when the pads need changing, have a look and see if the metal clip is touching the disc
|
will try to look 2nite although the crap weather is not helping ..i am due to replace the brakes pads soon as they have no bite at all but did not know about the wear indicator.
cheers |
Could be the wheel bearings. Does it get worse when you try to apply steering lock to lock at low speed?
Is it like a high pitched grating noise? Is there any vibration through the steering wheel, even though the wheels are balanced? Is it intermittent? Does it sound worse after a spirited drive? If yes, get the bearings inspected because if left too long the hub assembly can wear and will need changing too. I left it too long and got a £300 bill for changing front nearside bearing! |
