Hello from newbie

This is just a quick post to say hello to everyone! I have been driving a VX220 turbo for the past couple of years, but am set to become a father by next Feb, so needed something with a little more practicality!

I part exchanged the VX last weekend for an 05 wrx in WR blue and have to say that I am absolutely delighted with it so far. I thought I was really going to miss the VX, but although the scooby doesn't match it for pace or handling, there is so much besides to like about the new car. It just feels so solid in comparison and I have to admit that it's nice to have a bit more room again. Also, I'm looking forward to having a car through the winter that has heating that actually works! The most the VX ever managed was luke warm, which wasn't great on cold winter days.

Your archive sections have been very useful already (looked up an article on oil levels this morning, because mine is overfilled to the upper notch when cold). :thumb:

Am now thinking about whether to go for the prodrive pack, but may run the car in standard form for a while to get used to it first before making the decision.

Jules

Hello :thumb:

Tighten up the handling with a Whiteline rear ARB and some solid droplinks, and get rid of the OE pads ASAP. PPP is well worth it whilst the warranty is a factor, more available for less when it isn't ;)

Thanks for the welcome guys.

Coradoboy, I'm interested to hear that you recommend changing the OE pads on the scooby, because I always advised people to do the same with their VXs. The OE pads on the VX were horrendous and mintex/pagids gave a vast improvements.

Re the PPP, I have 2 years warranty left, so it probably does make sense to go for it over the other options.

I'm currently running Mintex 1155's but find them very dirty. My previous Ferodo DS2000's (DSPF) were much cleaner and just as good. Pagid RS4.2.1 Black are much more expensive, but last much better than all others I'm told. EBC Red's perform well but wear like they're made of butter.
