EXHAUST ADVICE

THinking of putting a Sports Back Box on.

Have the power measured on a rolling road at 262.8 BHP. Bigger Turbo fittecd but desn't kick in till 3,800 RPM.

2 Questions really, will the back box help with lower down grunt? and any ideas how much more BHP you think i might get?

THanks everone.

Kind regards

Alan MaC.

A decat downpipe; or perhaps a sports cat downpipe will make a far more noticable difference. Pete Croney used to boast that his rear exhaust section would add '30bhp'; it was bollocks.

Thanks for that.

Any other advice on just doing the back box on it's own?

Thanks.

Motor goes in this Friday for a Sports Backbox.

Nice people supplying and fitting.

Any guesses about low down grunt and extra BHP you think I might get looking at the info I've provided on my previous posts?

Thanks.

Porting and wrapping the headers

Shmerman 09 August 2006 11:20 AM

I doubt you will see much difference with just a new back box as you still have the restricting pipes still in place (cat in the down pipe and centre) The GC8 said the most noticable difference will come from de-catting the downpipe. You would see a definate benefit from this and also get faster spool up.

The cats are probably holding you back most, particularly the downpipe cat.
Other than de or re catting, ported headers and a decent up-pipe, then get it remapped again.

You "should" see better spool, less lag as well as improved top end.
