Rallycross @ Lydden, Monday August 28th.

http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g1...flet-small.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g1...flet-small.jpg

Anyone fancy coming along?

For those that don't know....

Rallycross consists of short sprint races, about 4 laps, on a course made up of both tarmac and loose. Racing is extremely close and accidents do happen.:D

The "Supercar" class used to be home to outlawed group B rally cars (I believe a Metro 6R4 is still being raced) but nowadays you get to see incredible one off machines, Astra & Fiesta 4wd turbos for instance, where the norm is 600bhp and 0-60 times of under 3 seconds.

There is at least one Classic Scooby WRC running in the championship this year would be great to show some scooby support. :luxhello:

Lydden Hill circuit is about 10 miles from Dover, on the A2. (About 45mins from Thurrock). Every part of the racetrack can be seen from virtually anywhere and all parking is within, overlooking the track.
Entry £12 adults, Kids go free.

I know it's a busy time for most but if you're at a loose end on this day why not come along.

Do they still have a Rallycross event at Brands, used to be December time?

Haven't seen this for years either, used to be really good, 6R4's and RS200's :thumb:

Went to meeting at Brands last year but I think it went to Croft this year.

Made it to every Rallycross GP held at Brands, was great back in the 80's only about 1,000 people watching used to spend all my time in the pit garages. Then it got popular, 20,000+ people, and they restricted all access.

Those were the days <<< in my best OAP voice.:lol1:

Just checked the Brands website, there was an event at the end of October planned, but this has been cancelled :(

Also checked the BRDA site, after Lydden the only remaining rounds are at Mondello park - Ireland and Croft - Darlington, Next Year ? :thumb:

Bri4n,

must have still been thinking about this thread, as whilst working away, suddenly remembered the other big name - John Welch and his Xtrac Astra, real quick but unreliable.
