3 points £60 fine, isnt an NIP a fixed penalty? especially at that speed.

He's not sure what it is yet, the paperwork has gone to the bosses house and we are still waiting for him to come in! All we know is that its a 45MPH in a 30MPH we presume that a mobile camera got him.

heres an idea.....wait for your boss to arrive. What do you want? a SN group meet to pick him up and get him in sooner?

davegtt 31 July 2006 10:01 AM

As i or he have never been done for speeding we were wondering what he could expect thats all !!!!!

A stern lecture from the moral indignants of SN, a number of points and a fine of some kind.

45 in a 30? My God, think of the carnage.

I'm relaying all the info to him including the stern lecture:nono: He thinks he has got done after leaving the motorway, at the roundabout it goes straight into a 30MPH. No excuse though he was still speeding and he's not denying it he's just wondering how many points/fine. He's a sales rep and needs his car for work.

45 in a 30 ='s 50% over the speed limit, u might cop more of a fine and more points than normal. Hope u get a happy magistrate if u get to court M8

dashpig 31 July 2006 11:35 AM

Got done for 50MPH in a 30 zone - got 5  points AND a £150 fine - guess the judge was in a BAD mood ! :( and that was in a Skoda (quite happy it managed to get to 50 actually :lol1: )

So going on that it'll be less, but it depends on if he's got any other points/fines on his license already...

simpsons ! 31 July 2006 11:41 AM

Ok update his boss has arrived. Its a NIP 45MPH in a 30MPH that is supported by video/photographic evidence.

One thing i'd heard about speeding things, is to check the last time the equipment used to take the speed readings was last calibrated, and there needs to be a certificate or similar to say it had been checked by somone as being accurate

If it had not been done so that morning then the validity of the speed can then be questioned - that's what i'd heard so it MAY not be gospel - i'd appreciate feedback on that point

Probably - I got 3 points for 97 on the M4. :brickwall

I think that if the magistrate is in a bad mood it could cost him extra points and money at 50% above the limit.

If he was caught doing that in my village I would ban him. So many twats think they can speed through villages, maybe they think it makes them look big, maybe they have such pathetic lives they feel the need for people to notice them or that they are trying to convince people that they are in fact important. Interestingly once these people get out of the village into bendy 60mph roads they haven't a clue .............. interesting that. Similar to the 'quick in a car park' brigade.

Rant over.

I used to have a foreign registered car I used to drive with utter disdain for the speed limit, particularly in villages populated by small minded dickweeds. Who knows one of them might have been the one you live in with any luck.
I also used to think it was funny setting off GATSO's especially if there was an english reg'd car with some numpty who thought he could drive 'fast' following me.

I did it not to convince people I was important or for them to notice me, I did it because I 'get off' on driving quickly and breaking the law.

Sadly the car had to go following an 'incident'.:norty:

He has now rung the police, Its gonna be 3 points and £60 fine. I think he's getting off lucky.

I have to say I'm sick of muppets who drive at 45 mph in NSL country roads, then continue at the same speed through a 30mph village. :(
