Track car, suggestions please
im looking to build/buy a track car to thrash about the local circuits and occasional sunday morning bike blasts.
Ive ignored LSIS cars cos i ried to fit into a robin hood, and couldnt, i didnt feel safe and the car was really skittish. It was good fun, but serious injury or death could occur from even the smallest bump ive come acorss this http://www.spiresportscars.co.uk and i like the look of it as its more dedicated track car (read mini le mans) ive also considered a cheap (as in cheap, stolen recovered, small damage etc) import impreza, evo and skyline gts. I like th idea of the rwd straight line speed with the skyline but worried about weight and cost of tuning, unless buying a pre-tuned one which might fall out of my inital budget. Scoobies and evos the same but being 4wd have good handling and are easy to drive, but sacrifice their straightline speed, which is one of the appeals of the dedicated track cars. I dont want to go fwd, even if it a mi16 engined 205 any suggestions and help, advice etc would be greatly appreciated. Budget for buying the car is £5k cheers dan |
2wd saphire cosworth?

Track cars for the track, road cars for the road.
Scooby's aren't good track cars unless you spent some serious cash on them. Caterham is the way to go £5k is pushing it though |

Lightly breathed on MX5 with around 150BHP. Loads are already laughing, but they are cheap, they are reliable, they are rwd and they are starting to become common on the track day scene. There must be a reason for that.
E30 325i with a nice budget to get it around 200bhp and nicely sorted suspension, brakes etc. Gary |
Buy a scooby and go rear wheel drive, not a big job and then u have a top rear wheel drive track car.:thumb:
