Knocking Noise ???
Hi ppl,
Advice needed please I have a Scooby 1993 WRX Saloon, my prob is this....... When I start the car up in the morning I have a loud knocking noise coming from the top end off the engine and in the middle. Once the car has warmed up to temp the knocking noise dies down but is still there. However if i rev the car to 2000rmp or above the noise completely goes away. So basically im only getting this knocking sound while to car is at low revs or is idling. But sometimes and its been driven when to the car is idling there is no noise but if i rev the car up or give it some welly the noise comes back. Ive check oil levels this is fine if anything prob a little to much oil in the car. Does anyone have a idea what this maybe b4 I book it in to my local garage ? I was told it could be the Camshaft ??? and also is it advisable not to drive the car at the mo ???? Thanks |
what does the car drive like? is the boost a bit erratic?
Too much oil can contaminate the boost solenoid. Dont know if that would cause clicking but it is a possibility I suppose |

crank bearings i was told by someone at work (fordmain dealer) that it was the top of the engine tapping throu oil starvation hence knocking on start up and around bends if yours is the same as mine was (hope not) you might be able to catch it early enough to possible just re-shell the crank

have you had it checked yet? if so what was the problem?:wonder:

Investigate the cam belt tensioner.
