Quick Question
I've done a search but to no avail. Im After getting a standard WRX Subaru for about £10k my question is parkers and Subaru quote better MPG figures for the 03-05 facelift after the bug eye model.
Is that correct? Does it have a different engine? How much difference does it make on juice? I know i know before i get flamed for posting MPG questions on a subaru forum but im an NA type-r owner whos scared of the fuel consumption on these boys. I'd like to see 230 - 250 miles out £45 quid just round town with out motorway miles is that possible? Thanks guys very much appreciate, apologies for ruining your performance form with boring mog questions. |

All in all the difference in MPG is too small to matter. 240 miles on £45 is doable, but you wont be having any fun!! |

I have an 02 WRX bugeye , no mods just a brake upgrade and K&N , I run it on Super all the time , I get about 220-230 max out of tank costing 45-50 depending where I buy the fuel , tesco is cheaper !

if you love your scooby dont buy petrol from supermarkets. mpg seems fine to me i drive my00 moderate modes 20 quid - 100miles

I have a ecutek'ed MY03 WRX and without trying I get 240 miles from a tank round town and thats not taking it easy. Since ive owned mine i was surprised how much people moan about the bad mpg as mine is perfectly acceptable. If you really stay off boost you can get far better mpg than that if you wanted to.

Whats the fun of staying off boost. Might aswell bought a non turbo car. and saved even more money on insurance and the initial cost.

So what you saying speedking that Esso 95 Ron is more beneficial for the engine than a 99 octane rating fuel, seeing esso actually supply tesco`s fuel.

From what I have been told the super markets get their fuel from the same suppliers of shell and esso, I mean it all comes from the same place dont it. The Middle East. Ok How long before the troubles over their put the prices up again. When are we all going on fuel strike again. In the immortal drunken words of Deliah Smith. "COME ON WHERE ARE YOU WE NEED YOU COME ON."
Can we start a fuel strike please so us mortals can afford the 102ron bp fuel. Just think Tony Blair and the greenies the more octane the more efficient our engines run meaning less greenhouse effect. |

buy a scooby , have fun , and dont worry about the 150 miles per tank.
drive like your mum and you will get 225 miles ish. drive like miss daisey and you might get 250 miles. who wants to drive like miss daisey other than miss daisey? or you could go for a diesel car and have no friends. ;) |
Hi Mickey I know it wasnt was just joining in with the fun, as I cant have fun in the Scooby cause I wanna get 300 miles from a tank, has anybody actually considered thot that different models of Impreza have different size tanks. (doh)

@SUBTYPER:I'm not saying that there is anything wrong with the fuel, just that the logic that because something is used by a rally team makes it better for use in a road car is flawed.

Thanks guys nice one so if i drive kind of 50/50 not always on the limit but with a 50% use of boost 50% off boost can i see 220 ish miles round town?? out of £45 would that be fair to say?? If so i think you might have a new entry level wrx scooby member. if not let me know now before i make a mistake.

With 50/50 hard/steady driving I get between 22-24 around town, which = 220 to 230 per £43 at current prices. (I always spend aprox. the same each time I refuel as this equates to ~ 1 weeks driving for me..;)).
This is in a mildly modded (280) 05 WRX always using optimax+OB BTW..:D On a steady m'way run I can get ~26, but thats tops. To be honest, I've never got less than 22mpg even when running 100% AC or during heavy right foot driving (not track)..! A remap will actually give you better MPG as well as MUCH better performance..! So it's something to look forward to IMHO..:D |
