MY06 grill panel removal
 

I have a MY06 WRX STI and need to remove the upper grill panels from the front bumper, but can't see how to get them out. Lower one is no problem. I have been using Turtlewax Bug & Tar Remover - works very well - but some of the spray has gone through the grills leaving unsightly white marks on the black surround behind the grills, that need to be polished off.

Any suggestions other than using an over sized cotton bud and working through the mesh ?

would a thin soft paintbrush do the trick?
