another suit question
As I guess nobody is buying suits in this 36+ deg heat, it appears that TM Lewin have a half-price sale on. All suits were £500 now £250. That sounds like not a bad deal to me, and I could do with a new suit anyway. So are TM Lewin suits any good? Glued or sewn interface?

Not bought one, nut I've noticed that TM Lewin stuff is on permanent sale. It's usually buy two for £500, so at least now you could only buy one.
If their suits are like their shirts, then they're nothing special |
TM Lewin or whatever its called are ALWAYS on sale
Not sure about the quality.....their constant shouts of 50% of this "Buy one get one free"...would lead me the other way. |
I have a number of TM Lewin city shirts and I'm very happy with the quality - I used to weat the Next city shirts but they've started to wear badly after only a couple of months, ensuring I'll never buy from them again.
Lewins had a 4 shirts for £100 recently - bargain. Can't comment on their suits, but I reckon their quality is okay. |
Went into the office in shorts and sandals yesterday!
|
I didn't say I was wearing a suit yesterday. I just happened to pass the shop and thought that the hot weather might be time to pick up a bargain, as surely no-one else is thinking about buying suits right now.

So-so quality, certainly glued interfacing on the £250 ones. I don't buy the shirts any more 'cos I found they wore badly, especially on the collar.
Apparently the Selfridges sale has good suits at the mo. |
Go and see this guy at one of his 'clinics' if you need a suit.

He is still minty by the time youre getting a proper suit. Much much better than the tat that youll get from House of Fraser's made-to-measure franchisee though.

Well the TM Lewin website has the following diagram:
http://www.tmlewin.co.uk/content/ima...nstruction.jpg 1. Undercollar melton 2. Padded sleeve-head roll 3. Soft shoulder padding 4. Floating chest plate 5. Welted breast pocket 6. Woven chest canvas with horsehair 7. Slanted double-jetted pocket flaps 8. Four “kissing” cuff buttons 9. Woven forepart canvas 10. Bemberg taffeta lining 11. Two back vents Do 4 and 9 imply sewn interface? |
Id say so. A full canvas and working cuffs alone dont a good suit make though...

However, I may pop along to see Raja Deswani at an opportune moment...

I paid a grand for a suit that would easily have cost £2200+ anywhere else, the only other annoyance is that you will needto get it cleaned and steam pressed when it arrives, as it will stink of cheap cigars and be creased from the small box. |
