Lost boost on MY03

Hi All

As title - I have a MY03 WRX, and I've lost boost. I have an ECU monitor, and sustained boost has gone from 0.95-1.00 bar to a maximum of 0.5 bar. I did actually feel it go - like something was pulling the car back. The ECU isn't reading any faults.

It's going into the garage tomorrow (still under warranty), but if anyone could give me a clue as to what might be wrong, that would be great (I get the impression that the garage is a bit clueless).

TIA

Si.

what fuel are you using?

Simebaby 17 July 2006 05:15 PM

97 RON Unleaded - it's been running fine on that since last September, so I'd ruled that out TBH.

fair enough, thats fine. Its odd that the ecus not read any faults....

as the only other things to suggest are sensors, but the ecu would tell you if they are on the blink.

Yeah - that's why I think the Subaru Centre will struggle as well, as they'll presumably just check the ECU.

I did think about resetting it, but with no fault codes I can't see that would do any good, so I think I'll let them deal with it in the first instance (under warranty so not the end of the world).

Should I be driving off boost whilst it's like this?

i know the is some silly little boost valve thingey ma bob

that wen u over fill the engine with oil it can splash up in to the valve blocking it up, the car then thinks the is a fault and puts u in limp mode.

its easy to sort, just needs to be sprayed with carb cleaner!

if it is that lol

ps
yes drive off boost it aint worth not having your car for a few months and then having to run it in again

and dont reset the ecu, let the dealer decide as they will know best
