Jap import WRX BHP on a 1994?

Hi guys,

Well I just got myself a tidy, well looked after 1994 M-reg WRX import. I'm really happy with it, standard with an STI exhaust. Although I was just wondering, what BHP should it have as standard. Is it 260hp or did they start those in 1995, or is it 240 hp?

Should I have a plastic sump guard, were they a standard feature? As I don't have one. How much are they and where from?

Also I know this topic has already been discussed many times before, but I've heard mixed reports to whether you should put semi or full synthetic oil in them. Want to give it an oil change, done many other cars before but never a flat boxer engine. Is there any special info I should know before I attempt it?

Thanks for any help.

Darryl

If you have red/black seats and an aerial on the pillar above your head it will be a MY93/94 and 240 ps. If you have grey/black seats and an aerial in the rear passenger quarter, then you have an MY94/95 and 260 ps.
