anyone got a Powerflow exhaust?

am going to powerflow tomorrow to see if they can make my exhaust louder.

have got a full decat full 3" system with just a back box (the revulition system) but i want more noise.

i like the nur spec but it is a lot of money £480, so am going to see what different back boxes they can do and what sort of sound they give out.

any good/bad feedback welcome.

I put a powerflow on my old MKII Golf 16v, sounded ok but the shiney exit pipe soon went "off" and I could never get it shiney, just ended up looking dull and sh*te.

You get what you pay for IHMO

Don't do it mate - the quality of workmanship is down to the skill of the person making the exhaust, so it can be very hit & miss. I had a full system made on my clio 172 cup, sounded good but, quality and fit were very poor. Had to go back twice to get it fitted right. Also they cannot create mandrel bent pipes, so use a slightly bigger bore for the bends. They also cut off the flange off your original exhaust so that makes the original useless - they did this to my 172 one which I did not realise untill too late! At end of the day it is up to you, however I would rather get HKS or similar that is designed for the car. Ade

I wouldn't let Powerflow near my old fu*ked out Fiesta let alone my Scoob.

even for just a back box?

the revulition system does not have a flange at the back, its a slip over type joint.

if i wanted to go for a hks/blitz etc, i would need to buy the decat centre section and back box.

stisye 13 July 2006 07:42 PM

made the mistake of getting a powerflow exhaust on my uk turbo at least the lads at scooby clinic had a laugh said th baffels in the silencer were to small and restricting the cars power aiong with the s**t fitting and welding! big waste of £250!!! steer well clear mate leave powerflow to the bolt on boyracer chavs!!

Ian 13 July 2006 07:44 PM

where would you lot go to have a back box made up?

i live near Cambridge

stisye 13 July 2006 07:51 PM

scooby clinic i had there silencer fitted after and there as loud as you like turdo back strait to the back box sounded awsome!!! got a magnex on mine now sounds nice but not to loud give scooby clinic a try on there web sight!

Ian 13 July 2006 07:55 PM

mine is just tooooo quite, it is 3" all the cay to the back box, but from the way the pipe work goes, a box will have to be made up, as standard fitting/pipe work run boxes will not fit

stisye 13 July 2006 08:01 PM

yeah this was my prob after power flow had f**ked it but i had a second hand center section off scooby clinic and there own back box! ther sound mate try them only trouble there in chesterfield but do mail order!

H&S gets my vote EVERYTIME.

I have a full 3" decat H&S Sytem, when I first fitted it, I ended up taking the centre section off and sending it back to swap it for one with a resonator just to quieten it down a little.

I think if you look in the Group Buy section on here, theres one at the moment for H&S.

Heres mine... (not the best pic but you get the idea)

Jay_bee 13 July 2006 08:49 PM

think i am going to drive down there tomorrow and have a look at there work etc and go from there

Jay_bee 13 July 2006 10:59 PM

Seriously mate, its worth saving up and waiting a bit longer and getting yourself something better, Im not saying Im an expert (far from it) but I've not heard of one person putting a Powerflow on a scoob.

To be honest, if you keep checking the for sale section, Id say that over a 2 week period you'll probably find someone thats got a better backbox for sale 2nd hand.

Anyway, just my opinion but PF are cheap cr*p for the saxo brigade

i have got a dam good system on my car ar the moment, but is not loud enough for me, it has a different pipe run than standard, so a lot of boxes will not fix up to it, that is why i need one to be made up.

[Davey] 14 July 2006 08:21 AM

Avoid PowerFlow at all costs! generally the franchises are tallentless half-witts who have no idea about gas flow, the systems are made from low quality bodged together tube, most I've seen have very poor welding and very poor fittings.

Leave powerflow for the little barry boys in their corsas and 106's.

Jay_bee 14 July 2006 08:43 AM

DaOne

If you ring H&S (01268 727256) and ask to speak to Ian, tell him what you've got and what you're after. They are a manufactuer. I've had several dealings with them and found Ian to be very helpful.

All Id say is, you've asked for peoples opinion...

not one person has had anything good to say about Powerflow, surely that must tell you something!

how do people rate the blitz nur spec r exhaust?

Jay_bee 14 July 2006 03:05 PM

I think the majority of people acknowledge them as being v good (and loud ;))

classic scooby doo 14 July 2006 03:14 PM

H&S do quality systems and know about flow and what they are talking about. Powerflow however dont have a ****ing clue. My other halfs fiesta had a powerflow exhaust on it and the welding and way it had been made with T pieces and wonky beds was laughable. My nan could do a better job.

classic scooby doo 14 July 2006 03:15 PM

almost forgot, as soon as i put the ford system back on the g/f's car it drove better reved better felt quicker. Powerflow=Powerloss imho.

Ian 15 July 2006 08:43 PM

taken all of your advice and have brought something else.

when i get it iw ill post some pics up :-)

4evermad 16 July 2006 11:10 AM

dean/abz 16 July 2006 01:16 PM

had a powerflow on the car when i got it

was very loud and ended up failing mot on noise

now have a hks system

nickejmartin 16 July 2006 01:26 PM

TSL in Nottingham -firestorm exhaust as an alternative for a Blitz. £300 all in, very good quality and very very loud. They send to anywhere in the Uk usually next day delivery - 5 in exit pipe and fantastic sound. A real scooby exhaust.

Also RCM - amazing system especially team Ice. Redefines 'loud' exhuasts.

scoobyboy1 16 July 2006 01:27 PM

Had a Powerflow exhausts on my classic a few years ago, and had no problems with it at all. Apart from ringing in my ears because it was very loud.;)
