Wilwood 6 Pot Big Brake Kit Group Buy : SECOND RUN

After recieveing the first parcels from the first group buy I've been in-undated with people wishing they'd got in on it and asking for another. Just gaugeing interest at the mo as I'd rather get the rest of the kits through and a few fitted to make sure there are no issues. Its worth mentioning that delivery has taken 6-8weeks so far as they got stuck in customs.

Anyway if you're interest get your names down below.

Gumph from first GB...

I've been searching for a decent brake upgrade for a while now. My first choice would obviously have been AP 6 pots but I couldn't really run to £1500 so I've been looking at alternatives.

Incase you haven't already heard of them Wilwood are an American company that have been making competition brake for over 30 years. They are very popular over there but little heard of in the UK because they only have a single UK dealer. There are a few people using them on Scoobynet, and all comment I've seen have been brilliant.

They do this absolutly lush 6 pot kit for any Impreza which comes with everything ready to bolt on. Thats the 6 pot calipers, disks, bells, pads and optional hoses. They will fit any Impreza with 17" wheels.

17" wheels are needed for these.

Anyway I tried just about every stockist of them over there and been in contact with them a few times and after alot of calculations I've hit upon a figure of £879.50 if I order 12 kits. This is at todays ex rate so I'm calling it a nice round £900 to cover any fluctuation in the exchange rates.

This fiqure includes the optional braded lines which they agreed to throw in free (normally £60). It also includes the hurrendous postage costs (despite being very light for what they are, all brakes are very heavy) and an exact fiqure I've been quoted by customs for import duty etc. The Wilwood UK dealer sells these kits for more than £1200 so its still a hefty saving.

Postage will be to one location (my house/work) and if you need it posting on it'll probably be another £20 but we can sort this out once they're here.

I'd prefer to get the money in via cheque/bank transfer as paypal ripped meoff last GB. Once we've all paid I can then transfer the money to the company in the states but I'm sure something else can be arranged if necessary.

Obviously I'll be holding a great deal of your money so to put your mind at ease most of the southerners know me well enough as I'm chairman of Scoobycity. For verification see this thread on my club where I am running the group buy aswell.

Disks are 13" (330mm) and they're groved only, not drilled and groved as shown in the pics. Drilled was available as a rather expensive option but I'd rather keep things simple and costs the same for everyone.

Theres a choice of three pads.....

"E" Compound - High temp / Track
"Q" Compound - Fast Road
BP-10 Smart Pads - The BP-10 is an all-new type of metallic composite friction pad compound. It possesses the medium to high temperature range friction characteristics of a metallic compound race pad, with the quieter engagement, lower dust, and positive low temperature response of a street performance pad.

I'd be VERY interested also, if i was allowed to run until end september.

I'd also be looking at different colours if possible, Red calipers & bell housings.

You can let me know if this is possible.

Thanks

Stalked!

Bartop 13 July 2006 02:26 PM

I'm a possible for these too - are the drilled and grooved discs more expensive ?

Doh - just read the post properly....shame as the drilled look superb :(

Also interested in rears btw.. :)

alex_00s 13 July 2006 04:52 PM

Drilled discs arnt all that, infact they crack around the holes so dont be too disappointed ;)

I would be interested to know how much the deal works out for front and back together?? :wonder:

Put me down for a maybe! :thumb:

Simon STi 14 July 2006 01:50 PM

lol, very funny :D

Houghton 18 July 2006 12:50 PM

I asked this on the other thread, but didn't get an answer :(

Does anyone know how the pad contact area compares with 4 pot Brembos as the disc swept area looks a little narrow by comparison?

Cheers

Ali M 19 July 2006 11:22 AM

I could well be interested in these also!

How much better are these than the new age gold Brembos?

Will they take other pad types, eg Ferrodo DS2500?

How much extra would rears be?

Approx when would the cash be due??

Cheers

Hello been waiting a while now has Danny gone on holidays again. Looks like alot of itnerested people. I just need my brakes shipping to an american address. I can get them in other ways than postal charges.

jasonl 29 July 2006 08:28 PM

afaik wilwoods come in black or chrome. black helps the heat dissipate better.

DannyBoyTurbo 31 July 2006 07:16 PM

Sorry for not getting on here sooner.

I still haven't had all the kits in from the first GB yet (7 out of 10 so far) so I can't even begin to think about running another one just yet. I just wanted to start the thread as I've had so many people ask me if I will be doing another.

Anyway one of the people from the first GB now wants to sell his so I'll get him to post up here ;)

WR 1mposter 04 August 2006 01:32 AM

That would be me Danny :(

But they have now sold pending on Cheque arrival and clearance:thumb:

borat52 04 August 2006 11:23 AM

If anybody is after the drilled version of this kit then I have just ordered front 6-pots/rear 4pots from a US supplier for a price very similar to this GB posted to UK. Its going to take 3 weeks to get them to me but the supplier has been very reliable in the past. PM me for details if you want them.
will

KK3960 05 August 2006 06:43 PM

Yes i would be interested in a set of these for my newage, as mentioned previously can we obtain a cost for the rears and do we know if the pad fitment is common so Ferodo or Mintex pads can be fitted ??

Cheers

Is this 2nd run a goer ??:wonder:

DannyBoyTurbo 13 August 2006 08:41 PM

Yes last of the kits are in, just waiting for a few missed nuts and bolts from the damaged boxes and then we'll be good to go.

Will just wait to see a few more responces from people who've fitted them aswell to make sure theres no problems or negative comments.

Prices should be as follows..

Front kit - £900
http://scoobytuner.com/images.sized/19.jpg

Rear kit - £500
http://scoobytuner.com/images.original/20.jpg

This includes all duty, vat and delivery to my house. Delivery from me to yours (if in the uk) is £20.

You can start a list if you like, please specify what you're after and what model/year car they're for as I'm not sure on rear fitment yet.

Danny, I checked with the UK supplier and apparently you need to measure the distance between the center of the two mounting bolts on the rear to ensure fitment.

Might be worth checking with Wilwood....

DannyBoyTurbo 14 August 2006 05:07 PM

Cheers mate, I've asked them to provide clear instructions on exactly is required for each different model. I'll post up what they say.

Sorry for the delayed reply, I'm only now starting to recover from the stress of the first GB.

Red calipers are available but its a rather expensive option at $179 (£100) I think. No mention of optioanl colours on the bells though. Let me know if still interested.
