Which one, new or old?

Guys, I am after a bit of your knowledge and experience to help me out.

In a bit of a pickle about which Scoob to buy...here's my options. (bear in mind I am in Europe and not UK)

Option 1 - Brand new 06 STi

Option 2 - Used 05 STi (but only 800km on clock) and about 9K cheaper

Trouble is is the new 2.5 that much better than the old? I also have a lot of rally friends that no doubt will be able to get me bits for the older one.

Anybody got experience of both? I am definately getting one...but which?

Cheers

I have an 05 sti myself. The 2.5ltr has a little more torque 'off turbo' as its 2.5litre but as most reviews have pointed its much of a muchness to be honest with you. I kinda like the new front end design of the 06 a little more than the blob 05 but when 9k is involved and for an 05 thats done just 800kms I would go with that, use your 9k on mods :norty: you'd have an awesome scoob after 9ks worth of mods believe you me :lol1:

I'd also go for the 05. Partly because the jury is still out on the lOOks of the 06 for me, plus, buying a brand new scooby can only mean one thing. Monster depreciation.

Hopefully with the 05, someone else will have absorbed some of that.

Yeah, thats what I'm leaning towards too....

and also (not sure if this would be true) because it is the last of the older generation so is tried and tested, any teething problems would of been ironed out during production..whereas the 2.5 in STi guise at least is brand new.

plus there is probably a lot more toys available than with the new one..

Had similar thoughts...
Went for the MY06 2.5, it is more flexible athough to be honest PPP is not as marked a change/improvement as with the 2.0, power delivery is easier to make the most of, little bit quicker but not a quantum leap in any new direction in truth. I will stay with warranty so PPP only for me

I'd never buy a brand new car again, you loose too much money on it. I'd go for the 05, or wait for a second hand new shape sti.

Katsoa kaunis! :thumb:

Yeah, you're right, it's pretty much known what the problems are with the 05 model.

Isn't there massive car taxes in finland? (lived in helsinki for 2 years :D)

Missa on seinajoki?

Right in the centrum...only been here 7 months (moved here in December, boy did I get a shock!! -27C!! Ridiculous!)

Yep, car taxes are maHOOSive..hence the 47K asking price...although after that, its cheap insurance and not really any road tax to speak of. Fuel about the same as UK...but I work from home so don't do many miles.

Cheers fellas....the 05 it is.

Come here little scoob...I have a few pressies for ya!!

pick of my last project scoob -
