Paul, can I have the full size pics of the 747 please.

Thanks

Good pics there Paul, that Safari spec 22B looks familiar ;)

Also that Lancia 037 looks suspiciously like the one that ran into the back of an Opel Manta at BRC Live, if it is then I'm glad its been repaired well!

Thanks :) Prodrive had that on Display in their service area along with a new Legacy. I don't know why the Legacy was there though but it was nice.

Did the 037 have the bars on the front when it hit the Manta? That must have made a mess :(

It did yes, I didn't see the damage up close but it scattered fog lights all over the track! The Manta came off a little worse mind, it was only a 15mph thing though so thankfully both cars lived to fight another day, I'm sure they've seen worse throughout their rally careers anyway! ;)

I'm sure I've seen this car, or at least one very very similar being rallied at Three Sisters near Wigan. :wonder:

Might be mistaken though. :)

I don't think it was the original looking at it so you might be right. There was another there that looked original but this didn't look right and too fresh.

johnfelstead 11 July 2006 12:09 AM

yoof of today dont know what they are looking at. ;)

Russell Brooks is one of British Rallyings greats (chap stood in the photo). He made the Andrews Heat for Hire sponsored cars very famous, so lots of Manta's have been copied in that livery.

Just because it's original doesnt mean it can't have a freshen up Paul.

I know who is John hence the great photo ;)

If the wheels look too shiney or something is out of place it looks wrong, you can't put your finger on why but I'm sure out of the 2 andrews heat for hire mantas this wasn't his and the other was.

I must remember never to use new wheels or replace broken bodywork on our 1960's and 70's race cars then. ;)
