I think he reckoned it hand the best cornering ability (well over 1g) not sure if it was the fastest, but maybe his was :p

It had active suspension I think (well on at least one of the models)

not had a TT but had 2 V8's

good cars. They don't rust and the exhaust is stainless steel so should last a lifetime.

Suspension knocks in the summer but they all do it. Make sure the dash works as it's a pain to fix £££.

Other than that they are pretty over enginered.
Depends what deal they want really as to value..

I sold my 2.5tt to get the impreza.

The soarer was a nice car, very comfortable, effortless power, about on par with the scoob on fuel consumption. The insurance on the scoob is cheaper! Powerwise the scoob is definately faster, at least it feels faster, soarers are so smooth it never feels like your going fast, although it would show an indicated 165 on the speedo, it only really came into its own after around 60mph, they are a heavy car and you notice it when cornering hard, even with the tems suspension.
They are over engineered as said above, gavanised body so never rust, stainless exhaust as standard, electric everything, lots of gizmos, even the passanger seat moves forward when you tilt it to allow easy access to the rear.
A couple of well known common faults to look at when inspecting,

Blinky dash, the instrument cluster is lcd and has a tendancy to flash on and off. Easy fix if you have a bit of electrical experience, but expensive if you don't.

Wheel offset, make sure it has the correct wheels fitted, alot don't as the offset is not too common, it will tramline badly with the wrong wheels.

Front suspension lower wishbone bushes, you will here knocks, squeaks etc, they are expensive to replace.

All soarers are imports so the radio will have poor reception if not aftermarket, even if it has a modulator fitted, due to the aerial being in the rear window.

Check and double check for turbo noise! Even rebuild from turbo technics will cost you £750 each ! and remember there's 2 !

Overall it was a nice experince to own, but i prefer the impreza, Soarer was a pain to park.... anywhere! It's so bloody long, oh and rear seats have very poor leg room for the size of the car... its all bonnet, and you cant see the end of it to park either.

I kind of miss people asking me what it is though, still not that many about.
At the end of the day it was built to be a fast luxurious exec showpiece, and it is exactly that, it cost nearly 60k new. Interior looks dated now though and its no race car.

Hope this helps.
