Is 26" big enough for the bedroom?

Wifey wants something a little bigger than 14" and I was thinking that 26" would be about right for the bedroom. What do you think?

Oh, I'm on about widscreen LCD tv's BTW :D

So waddya think - a 26" widescreen LCD on the wall opposite the end of the bed. The wall is 3' from the bed, so when laid in bed we'd be approx 8' - 9' from the screen. Do you think it's gonna be ok?

Cheers

Bob

I used to have a 28" in the bedroom and it was far too big.

Got a 14" Sony now and it's much better.

A mate reckons 32" is the way to go, but I've already got 32" of Sony hanging in the lounge and think its far too big for the bedroom, plus it would make her @rse look huge ;)
Wife is very appreciative and will be satisfied with however many inches I decide to give her :luvlove:

Gonna be placing an order for 26" online tonight unless someone convinces me otherwise.

Got a 17" LCD in the bedroom and that's fine, but it's closer than yours, we have it mounted on a fold out bracket from the side wall.

Brun 05 July 2006 06:27 PM

Just ordered a 42" Plasma for my single bedroom :D

bobsabuilder 05 July 2006 07:12 PM

Just ordered the 26" LCD for the bedroom plus a freeview box with a 80gb hard drive.

Dunno why I got the freeview box 'cos we've already got Sky+ downstairs but I can't resist a bargain (£500 for the pair delivered)

We have a 26 in the lounge, a big lounge and its big enough, there seems to be some Alpha male thing going on around the big tellies these days, I mean come on, up until recently 32 was the biggest you could get anywhere.

IF 26 isnt big enough in the bedroom, see an optician !

There's an unwritten rule that says for a plasma or LCD you should view from at least 5 times the horizontal width of the screen.

A 42" in a small bedroom will be absolutely useless. If you get close to these things you will be amazed how blocky and fuzzy the pictures are - they only resolve themselves properly when you're a good distance back.

We have one of those 32" Sony bravia bouncing ball LCD tvs in our lounge which is about 16 feet away and it's about right (great picture). Stand up and move closer and the picture gets rapidly worse.

I've got a 20 inch LCD in the bedroom and it's plenty big enough.

Depends what you buy really - I've got a couple of Pioneer plasmas and when I ordered them, I expected that statement to be true but the picture close up is really quite impressive.

The 'problem' with bigger screens is that you'll have to move your eyes to see it all, but with projector screens they reckon you need to be 1.5x the width away.

I would honestly say that a 43" Pioneer would be fine in a bedroom - I could happily watch it from 8 feet away.

I have only bought a 42" as i will be moving in with my lass in the next 6-12 months so didn't want to waste money on a smaller tv when i would still want a 42" for the living room :)
