Something is wrong if it wont last a fortnight.
Either the battery has had it and needs replaced or there is something drawing current when the car is off. Check for lights staying on in the boot or glovebox etc. Any aftermarket alarm or stereo system? ifnot wired right they can drain batteries.

nothing different , its just that this year only drive it once a week, the battery went dead last month so charged it
drove it once a week again and it died about 2 weeks later

Or battery is not being charged when you drive vehicle.

Odds must be that battery is knackered but a garage can check this can't they?

Leslie 05 July 2006 12:15 PM

Its either a duff battery or its got a tracker which draws current all the time.

Who cares what it looks like if you are charging it up?

Accumate or Ctek are probably the best.
They both can be seen here: -

at the area i work, you want it at home on the drive and nowhere else,

wwp8 11 July 2006 11:38 AM

ok, the battery is not taking it anymore had been charging it everyweek

could anyone recomend a good car battery for someone who drives it once a week?

Leslie 11 July 2006 11:42 AM

Bosch is a good battery if rather expensive. You pay for what you get as usual.

Tip: if they use the fag lighter - most won't work with the ignition off.

If you can't light fags with the ignition off, you can't charge the battery with it either :lol1:...needs to be wired to a permanent live connection (fused, of course) ;)

Strange how some cars can't manage a fortnight. yet I have a jag that can stand for months on end with no problem. And the BMWs can handle 2months without being used.

Suggest obtaining a battery with a bigger A/H capacity (i.e exceeding manufacturer's specs). Optimate/Accumates are good too.

If you intend keeping the car for a long time, Unipart do a "lifetime" guarantee for as long as you own the car. The batterys last about 3-5 years. So it only pays off if you keep the car longer than that. Also it doesn't cover neglect from electrical faults or deep discharging (if proven - you can get away with it normally ;) ).

can't find that in halfrauds, only do own brands one, there is one for around £60 4 yr guarantee, is that any good?

Leslie 12 July 2006 10:45 AM

Probably alright with that guarantee.
