MY04+ STI steering wheel on an MY02 STI

Hi,

Just bought a WR1 steering wheel (3 spoke with the silver centre bit)

Want to fit it onto my MY02 STI which has a Momo 4 spoke.

However, the adaptor is different for the air bag.

Is there an off the shelf plug/loom/adaptor which I can buy.

Any advice very welcome.

Thanks,

you need to have the spinner off the WR1 wheel like so (pictured right) -

otherwise you are into cutting into wires which is dodgy in my opinion.

nice one.

Anyone know the Subaru part number for this ?

bet it won't be cheap.. you could try grade A to see if they have one on any cars they are breaking...

I'd go back to the person you bought the steering wheel from and see if they'll pass to on to you.
The loom will be pretty useless without the steering wheel.

Frustrating Frayz.

Got the wheel, looks nice, but am not prepared to fit it without having the airbag working..

Can't believe the existing loom won't work :(

That is rather gay mate, you must be able to get the clock spring from somewhere :wonder:

still on the hunt for the cable.....

NickAdams 21 July 2006 09:58 AM

Tried any of the breakers? (Grade A etc etc)

I bought a brand new STi8 steering wheel a while ago for my WRX and it came with the loom etc as in the pic above. How come you haven't managed to get the spinner/wiring with yours?

Here's mine fitted,I assume yours is the same as this?

Good luck :)

Nick, I have tried everywhere apart from main dealer, as I don't really want to spend main dealer money ;)

Your contact hasn't replied, I mailed them twice.

Everyone else I have contacted doesn't have one :(

NickAdams 28 July 2006 02:00 AM

To be honest Mark it may be better to give them a call as I'm not sure how often they check their email up there... :(
