Headlight electrical adjustment wiring?
 

Has anyone fitted the later crystal headlights with the electrical adjustment.
I have the adjustment switch but no wiring plug & both connectors for the headlighst with the wiring part cut.
Having check both pre96, 97 & 98 wiring diagrams, the colour of the wires don't excatly match the colours of the wires on the connectors.

Connectors wire colours (from headlamps) below in no specific number order.

1. blue & yellow
2. White & Red
3. Red & Black
4. Red & Green
5. Green & black
6. Black

The wiring diagram states:

1. Grey & blue
2. Yellow & black
3. Light green & yellow
4. Grey & red
5. Red & black
6. Black

Has anyone got the correct wiring diagram or has the same colour wires as my connectors. The diagram is fairly simple to make my own mini loom to get these working. It would have been simple if I had the other end of the switch which might have had the matching colour wires to that of the headlamp connectors.

Had a similar problem on my old bug-eye, the wiring diagram provided for the replacement head lights was for a left had drive car, so i paid around £4 for a workshop manual cd on e-bay. Printed out the wiring diagram for both LHD & RHD cars compared to two and problem sorted

The actual wire colours from the headlight connectors below.
1. White & red
2. Green & black
3. Blue & yellow
4. Red & Green
5. Red & black
6. Black

The 97/98 wiring diagram states:
(lhd model)
1. White & Red
2. Red & yellow
3. Blue & yellow
4 Red & green
5 Red & black
6 Black

rhd model
1. Grey & yellow
2 Yellow & black
3. Light green & yellow
4. Grey & red
5 Red & black
6. Black.

Now it seems the lhd model wiring is near a better match than the rhd?
But still different on 1 wire (green & black) ?


The headlamp connectors & switch are basically the same in this thread, shame the wires are all tied around each other & not facing the other way.

Majority of the searches I have done are for conversion on the newer model?
Nothing on the classic gc8.

Hopefully someone with a 97/98 model can confirm this by checking the wires on the back of the headlamps & leveling switch. Better still point out which poles from the switch to which colour wire on the headlight connectors.
