Keep getting called by 08000 191773 ...

....on the home phone.

About 5 times per day :(

Complete silence whether you say anything or not. Not going to call it back - might be a premium rate scam.

How can I stop it? Can I get it barred by BT?

Call the number from your office phone...?

Sure, let your employer foot the bill... that sounds fair

Whatever it is, it isn't Premium Rate. In fact, it's free:).

I kept getting calls from an 0800 number - turned out to be debt collectors after someone who used to live at my house

I keep getting calls from ladies wanting sex with an elderly, overweight, gentleman

They say they wish to give something back to the community :D

It would be rude not to ;)

Pete - When they tell you to go and f*ck yourself it doesn't mean they want sex

Call the number back and there is a recorded message that "we are trying to contact you to inform you of a special offer..."

Spoke to a man at BT. It's a power dialler system, that is probably not working properly ie not switching to an agent when I answer.

He said to complain to ICSTIS (0800 500212) as we are registered with TPS so they shouldn't be calling anyway. He said they would be interested and it shouldn't be a waste of time. We shall see later today...

We're also on a free month of Choose to Refuse (will cancel it around 20 July before I end up paying £3.45 a month) so that I can actively bar the number for the moment.

Maybe in a month's time, they'll have given up trying to call us....

MartinM 27 June 2006 09:38 AM

ICSTIS not interested. Thanks BT man. Not. ICSTIS suggested I called the BT Malicious Calls Unit or the TPS.

TPS confirmed that we're registered with them. Will send me a form to fill in to enable them to complain to the company on my behalf.

From the multiple calls I've made to a selection of different organisations about this, the overriding impression is that people just want to give me another telephone number to call to get me off the line asap...:(

Any scoobynetters live near the address posted above?

Simply walk into the office and tear their ISDN 30/Kilostream circuit off the wall. The calls will stop. Job's a good'un. :D

MartinM 27 June 2006 12:14 PM

That IS the best suggestion so far. Thanks :D
