jap performance article isnt bad this month as above, a few minor inacuracies but on the whole a fair write up. st205 is fairly easy to get 300bhp out of and handling/brakes spot on. no major issues with gearboxes or driveshafts breaking either. nicely built cars, somehting a little different to the norm.

I had a 1994 GT4 WRC Ltd Edition (basically just cloth interior and no ABS) with the high rise wing. I imported it from Japan myself and it had already had it's boost raised, an air filter fitted and a nice exhaust (approx 290-300bhp). The only things I added were 18" OZ SuperTurismo's, my own sounds and a Clifford alarm. IMO, it was probably the best car I ever owned. It handled beautifully and only got better the harder you pushed it. I only sold it because I had a daughter on the way.
The cars carry fantastic road presence, with very few people knowing what they are.
The only downside are the bills that go with these cars, which are very high (when they occasionally go wrong).
Go and buy one, you won't be disappointed

Had a 400bhp ST205 WRC.. Mental, reliable, great looks.

Can be had for stupidly low money these days.

Cheers,

i had one on a 92 plate had it chipped to about 240 bhp, dont know model number though, brakes were crap though

RS Grant 24 June 2006 01:27 PM

Aye, the ST205 94-99 is defo the one to go for... Brakes are awesome as standard, 315mm discs all round with 4-pots up front and 2-pots at the back too I think.

Cheers,
Grant

good /proper st205s are still fetching over £6-7k.
cheap "fresh imports" often need a set of front suspension arms and a clutch which can set you back about £1.5k minimum

I have bought a ST185 as a track toy and on the whole for about 1.5k there is'nt much that can touch it .

JDM 222bhp as standard , 4 wheel drive traction with all the bells inc cruise :wonder:

first thing to go was the clutch and coolent leak and now there is a gasket fault but total of 2k in kitty ,car only cost £780 should be ok for some track action soooon ;):luxhello: :luxhello:
