Am i a grumpy old git
Ok i have had my impreza for 8 months now and was a little dissapointed with the power. I decided to have it ppp'd and am still not happy with the power. On the rollers i have 230bhp. I've had to change the knock sensor because it was showing negative readings. I just don't seem to get the 'kick back' that i expect from a turbo car. However i am due the 30,000 mile service (plugs, fluids etc etc). Will i be happier after the service, will i feel like i'm driving a turbo car or just like my tiptronic mitsubishi fto was...................smooth through the revs..................or am i grumpy old git :freak3: :freak3:
Car is my02 !!!!!!! |
maybe you expected too much and added the wrong mods to get good power delivery ;)

theres not usually much wrong with a PPP though...230 seems very low, even for a piggyback PPP, unless it was done recently.

Car is my02 !!!!!!! Theyre 0-60 motors at the end of the day ..!! not especially fast cars otherwise :) |
Servicing alone will do eff all, unless they happen to find a problem, which is down to how eagle eyed whoever does the work ;)
230bhp for a PPP seem low. Most UK scoobs will run that on rollers as standard. Tell whoeve does the work it's down on power (remind them it's a PPP) and see if they find something. |
i always remeber being in a series mcrae scooby of my mates (i seem to recall 5 of us being in it and it pulled up hill like stink). I know that the ppp isn't the best mod in the world but i wanted to play it safe (maybe i was naieve). I was told by the guy at the rollers that he'd never seen a ppp'd car above 250bhp !!!! i'll give the dealer a nudge when it goes in for service next week to get him to have a good look round. Consequently, the guy at the rollers said everything looked good, hitting peak boost (15psi) at 3500rpm and holding stable until 4500rpm then dropping off to 14psi until 6500rpm. Mixture was good too.

you cant compare accel from a mcrae scooby to an 2002 wrx as the mcrae (classic shape) is much lighter and the 2002wrx would need at least 50bhp more to match the older cars power !! your best bet is look at different alternatives for more lbs ;)

I'll get me and the girlfriend on the atkins !!!!!!!!:lol1: :lol1: |
If you had PPP fitted and only achieve an extra 15bhp (+ torque) I'd be asking for a refund :nono:
I assume you spent somewhere between £1400 and £1600? I spent just over half that for a new backbox and centre pipe, panel filter, uprated fuel pump and ecutek remap - 265bhp and 256lb/ft torque.....:wonder: |
Yep, i paid 1600 of your earth pounds !!!! the more i read into it the p'd off i'm getting. Looks like the dealer is in for an ear bashing next week
