I was asked this the other day, and realised i didn't know the answer.
Sorry if it's been answered a thousand times before, but is/was there a turbo Impreza on sale in Japan with lower spec/power than the WRX? Or is it just the export countries that get them? Ta. Terry |
As far as I know the WRX was the "standard" jap car. Don't be to impressed with the power figures as these were taken using 100 RON octane fuel, on 95 RON suspect the WRX would be much closer to the UK model.

A lot depends on the year and the number of doors http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif. WRXs are between 220 (MY93's) and 280 bhp they have gained more power during the years. I think Lee is right as the fuel makes a bigger diffence esp. to the later 280 bhp models.

Thought only the WRX STI had 280bhp. ? WRX ended up with around 240bhp on 100 RON. Any Import Experts enlighten us? Cheers Lee |
WRX started at 220 bhp then went to 240 then 260 (which mine is) and finished on 280 wagons were a different kettle of fish and were usually 20 bhp lower although were equal for a year, amd i think there 280 now aswell difference with sti is engine blueprint, turbo different aswell and they redline higher (probably coz fuji have more faith in them.

The first WRX came with 240ps (220ps for the Wagon and auto saloon), then it got 260ps for MY95 (220ps still for the wagon, auto saloon now discontinued). For MY97 onwards, the saloon got 280ps (250ps for wagon, dropped back to 240ps for MY99). Auto is also available for the WRX wagon.
