Yeah right, like our train tickets aren't enough...... this gets so boring .....
|
sorry cookstar but no sympathy from me mate. You knew the wage when you started work there. In an ideal world we would all get a pay rise. I didnt get one this year but we're not allowed to strike. And when so many people rely on the job you do then you shouldnt be allowed to strike!!!
Mind you it means i get a couple of nights on the p1ss in london, at the compnays expense....so it's not all bad :D:D |
takes more than 1 person to strike
|
But when you pay well over £2000 per year it kinda takes the p!ss....
|
Oh well, might need to work from home those two days!!
|
I personally do not agree with the strike action, the pay deal that has been offered I think is acceptable, but if you are in the union what choice do you have.
There will be more strike action called soon for pensions too This thread wasnt to try to get sypathy, but to give a warning to those that use the line. |
Alot of people who work on the trains do not agree with the strike actions ... just one of those situations where if you don't go along with it your working life will be made miserable. Very sad state of affairs but with a militant leader like Bob Crowe the situation is very difficult for the anti-strike members.
Although this is a major f.ckin pain for me I can appreciate the reasons why these guys strike. With the cost of living and working increasing every year (not to mention the house prices) you always find that the transport sector and general working services sector always get the bare minimum of pay rise to offset this increase in living. I have no problem with these guys reasons for striking because they have historically got poor pay deals and why the fcuk shouldn't they earn as much as a working professional. I'm supremely confident that if I was asked to swap jobs with a signalman or whatever I would walk out at the end of the day justifying that he/she deserves every penny of the money they get paid. Yeh it's an inconvenience but so what ... we'd all want more money per year if it was on the table!! |

Strike, will there be any difference? ;)
i use it and think c2c should have their franchise taken off them. They're on about stopping starter trains from laindon. Think i'll be getting the coach in next year when my ticket runs out. will save myself hassle and also about £1500!! not a personal attack on you cookstar. |
"NATIONAL EXPRESS, owner of the Silverlink rail network, made £64.2m profit last year from its train business - a 5% increase."
i think the company have enough money for pay rises, why should commuters suffer???? get the Military in to drive trains, instead of spending all day firing blanks at each other!!! Dazza :) |

Ya gotta do what ya gotta do We can't live without the postal service and we can't operate without an effective transportation system ... so if the workers in these industries are getting paid more than some professionals then so be it. I do agree that if left to the board of directors the pay rises would probably be derisory - like 2% or something like that. So if a strike is the only way to get a fair deal then fine. What I don't agree with is strikes that relate to the treatment of a singular person, i.e. the train driver who was sacked for playing squash whilst signed off as incapacitated. That is something the general public should not bear the brunt and costs for. |

On a day like yesterday it makes a hell of a difference. Also they do run on time ... I think their percentage of late trains is something like 2.5% which is better than pretty much every network. Just means I get to rag the sh!t out of my car into work on those two days and have an excuse to blag a parking space :D |

just like to add mate, am not having a pop at you.....just think it's a fercking joke they can shut down a major transport route just cause a few aren't happy!!!!!! Must admit though have now been back on c2c for just over a year and on a whole the trains have been fine, but when things to t1ts up boy they go t1ts up. |
Thats where my job becomes interesting, you must be aware however, when it goes tits up as you say most of the time the cause is out of our hands.
Suicides, kids vandalising things etc, cars knocking barriers off crossings, can cause HUGE problems. The reasons why the delays are so huge, is because of hundreds of safety procedures that need to be adhered to to protest you the passenger. So much goes on behind the scenes you wouldnt believe, and all you get to hear is "sorry but due to signalling problems........." ;) |
I use c2c into Fenchurch Street will there be any trains at all running from Ockendon to Fen St ?
