Woohoooo got my gp2x
As others on here are already using theirs mine turned up on Saturday and well pleased so far. Got the mame, AtariSt, SuperNES and spectrum emulators working nicely. Now gonna put Quake and Doom on and Im away!
For those who dont know what the hell Im on about check it out www.gp2x.co.uk Gary |
You've got more on yours than I have on my mine :o
I thought I'd start with MAME, and got no further ;) :D Managed to put Duke3D on last night, but found the controls a bit fiddly, so went back to arcade classics ;) Need to get my Amiga emulator on there, even if it's just for Pinball Dreams and Pinball Fantasies :D |
Congratulations. Give the megadrive emulator a go as well. It's really good :D
|
Cheers Iain will do. Once I have all the games loaded I'll have another play with Fenix, did you get it working?
Cheers Gary |
I'm still undecided between this and the PSP. I'm a big MAME fan, so thats the main attraction of the GP2x, Spectrum and Megadrive emulators would be cool too . . . but the PSP has GTA Liberty City Stories and wireless capability :wonder:

Well Dunk I was toying with a PSP for a while, even borrowed one off a friend but just thought its gonna be a bottomless pit of money and Im paying twice for all my games because I would buy something for the PS2 and then have to stump up for the PSP version. Also the fact that you are tied to sonys memory stick format when the gp2x uses SD cards and I just managed to get a 2GB Toshiba SD for £21 off ebay. Im a sad retro nut anyway (cars, clothes, music) so playing the emulators was the major factor for me because again on the PSP I would have to *buy* some dodgy sega or namco collection (which always includes ****e stuff) to play old games.

You can get Sony 2gig memory sticks for £33 off ebay now so it's not as bad.
The PSP has a big emulation following as well - as well as being able to play 'backups'. |
Agreed about the PSP. But you have to have a PSP on Firmware 1.5 or 2.0 to make the most out of the Emulators. Although I did have a go at the N64 Emulator on the PSP. And if they get that up and running properly, it should be good. The gp2x on the other hand can handle 4GB SD Cards. And I still can't stop playing Aero Fighters 2 on MAME.

What put me off is the battery life.
Whats the score with that ? |
I'm using 2600mah rechargable batteries, (it takes 2xAAs) and usually get 4-5 hours from them. It all depends on what you are doing on it and whether you overclock the processor or not.
Gary, not had a chance to try the feix stuff yet. Too much "proper" work to do atm... :( |
Anyone done any coding on it yet ?
What are the tools like ? |

How y'all getting on?
Been playing MAME mostly after I downloaded CLRMAME and set all the versions, only had a problem with Galaga so far, most of the other stuff works a treat. Doom2 as well plays like a dream. Next stop is an Amiga emu which should be fun, what are *you* doing with yours? Gary |
