Gauge fitting advice...
Hi..
I`ve searched around the threads and couldnt find any info i needed so thought i`d ask... I`ve got the swoosh boost, oil pressure and temp gauges for my 2001 Bugeye. It was supplied with the sandwich plate that goes between the oil filter and housing for the senders to screw into and i`m assuming the oil pressure sender screws into the side of the sandwich plate. But with the size of the pressure sender, i cant seem to get it to fit, there isnt the room for me to fit it in. Has anyone got any pics of the sandwich plate fitted so i can see the position everything goes. Thanks very much... Simon... |

hiya mate,
Did you buy them from SN Live like me? I'm in the process of fitting them at the mo, the boost gauge is in fully and the gauges are wired to the electrics, the oil gauges I will fit tomorrow. The wiring is easy - took the positive from the front fog lamp (Purple wire with grey flecks) - negative is the chassis. I have a classic which already has a nipple on the inlet pipe and has bungs for the oils sensors already. Try these two sites http://www.chiark.com/scooby/gauges.asp http://stefanostadal.homedns.org/car_mods_gauges.htm Damo |
also if this helps
http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthrea...sandwich+plate Can't the sensors be fitted straight into the block? You will need adaptors though Damo |
Thanks Damo...
The thread on here for the plate is a help...But just need to now if people have managed to fit the huge oil pressure sender in the sandwich plate or fitted it somewhere else cause it doesn`t fit..... :cuckoo: |
Right chaps, i`ve decided i dont like the sandwich plate idea...If i dont use this and want to fit the oil pressure and temp senders direct, where do i fit them and what else do i need ?
Thanks Simon... |

I used a remote fitting kit avaliable from Demon Tweaks to fit the oil pressure gauge. This kit is a length of braided pipe and a block of brass, to allow the remote fitting of the OE pressure switch and the one for the gauge. I cannjot find details of the thread of the OE pressure switch so you would have to find that out. If weather fine I will take some pics tomorrow and try to post them on here for you. I fitted the oil temp sender into the sump plug as I then know that the oil is all warmed up and not heat from the cylinder or exhaust affecting the readings. On here they seem to recommend fitting the oil temp unit into a blaking plug above number three cylinder again will try to get a pic tomorrow. Hope this might help Steve
