Cat D write off question
I'm looking at bike that is registered as a cat D write off. Its purely cosmetic damage, so can be repaired to be as good as new. Is it possible to have the bike inspected and have the history cleared???

It will always have the V23 marker .

The V23 condition marker hasnt ever been able to be removed and you havent been able to remove an HPI condition alert marker for over ten years.

I thought you could but only on Cat "D" - if a thatcham approved inspector give a full report on the repair then this can be removed from all data bases.
seen this on www.5ive-o.co.uk - i think... Alex D |
Category D is the lightest damage assessment. When Autolign first started to inspect 'recorded' vehicles they were removed from the 'Condition Alert' register upon passing, but this was changed when their contract was renegotiated and since then (early 1995); vehicles that have been sucessfully inspected are now moved onto the 'Condition Inspected' register. It is not possible to remove a recorded vehicle from HPI's register irrespective of what you have read on 5ive-o.co.uk. Category C damaged vehicles will need to be inspected before a V5 document will be issued; but this wont remove them from the register.
