Sainsbury's response to Tesco 99 RON

A friend of mine works at Sainsbury's, he's a bit of a petrolhead and has been involved in a new project to do with the filling stations. Now this isn't strictly official yet :Suspiciou but there will be an announcement very soon, basically Sainsbury have seen the response to the Tesco 99 RON and want to get in on the action so they are going to release 100RON unleaded under their Taste the Difference banner.

They reckon that as the Taste the Difference range is all about premium quality that this higher octane fuel fits in with that range perfectly, you get a lot extra product wise for only a small premium in price.

Anyway whatever the marketing blurb this can only be good news for all Scoob owners, looks like our cars will soon be able to taste the difference too :D

I wonder if they'll produce a 93 ron petrol under the Be Good to Yourself range, which the missus is very fond of filling the fridge and larder with:(

I doubt it; a 3200cc Carerra engine will happily run on 95RON lead free fuel...

100 RON sounds good to me (no more booster) if it's not too expensive - hopefully they can match the price of Optimax.

Tomski_908 27 May 2006 04:31 AM

Whoop whoop sounds good!!! Just hope the price stays under the the ££!!! :luxhello: :luxhello:

Petrol

BP do a 102ron but that is priced at £2.42 a litre so the sainsbury 100 ron will undoubtably be quite dear

Is it April 1st? LOL.
Petrol sold under a taste the difference range, hmmm, i can really see that happening. I think not.
Optimax and that is that, and you all know it too. How many times you gotta see the bloody magazine reviews that test them all before you believe it?
You bought a Subaru, stop moaning about the bloody cost ffs.
