Boost solenoig doesn't work
I removed my boost solenoid to give it a clean yesterday but when i connected the two green wires under the dash the boost solenoid didn't work (everything else did). I've checked the voltage at the plug and i'm getting 12v. Any ideas?? Car is my02 wrx ppp

are you sure you connected it up correctly?? are all the boost hoses on the right way???
all the one way flow valves on properly?? good luck |
>all the one way flow valves on properly??<
Didn't know there were any. Where are they?? The hoses going to the siolenoid are correct (i think) tube from turbo to t piece/wastgate goes to centre of solenoid (straight in). Tube from underneath solenoid (through 90degree bend) goes back to inlet I tried putting 12volts on the solenoid and it clicked away. It's as if the current is been drawn away when a load is put on it Cheers |
ok, id say you need to replace the solinoids....

I was begining to think the same, just tried putting a 12v bulb in the plug with solenoid disconnected, still nothing. Digital multimeter shows 12volts though........................ |
hmm...im on my 2nd set of solinoids...if you are going to replace them shop around...some better and cheaper ones out there ;)

Sounds like you have got a high resistance somewhere in the circuit. What year is your car? Will look through the wiring diagrams I have and see if I can help. Steve
Just looked through the diagrams I have for the bugeye and it looks like power feed and return are throught the ECU. Could be worth trying to get a diagnostic done if possible. Best of luck Steve |

Hi Steve, Had a diagnostic done today. The ecu is doing everything it should. Had the live data running for the boost solenoid and it looked to be cycling correctly. Had the multimeter on the plug. Got 12volts. Plugged into solenoid and voltage dropped to a few millivolts. Checked solenoid resistance, got around 35ohms. I'm confused Mark |

I thought connecting wires under the dash was a "classic" thing .......all the newage diagnostics are done throught the OBD port under the steering wheel :D Shaun |

Hi Shaun, I did the wire under the dash thing to make all the solenoids, fans, valves etc etc go through a preset duty cycle. It's a good way of cleaning them out. The only one that didn't work was the boost solenoid. I got a friend of mine to hook up his diagnostic tool to the obd while i drove round to check the ecu was sending the right signals to the valve. All looked ok Mark |
Whereabouts are the green wires. Are they male and female plugs?
|
one of each I presume ;)
|
Pretty please ...
Very helpful :p I am trying to establish whether "the two green wires" are wires into say grey plugs, or whether they are green plugs? There is nothing obvious under my steering column, MY02 WRX.

I,ve got a new age solenoid for sale if you want one?

There are no wires under the Bugeye dash.......just the more up-to-date OBD II port :D Shaun |

Sorry Andrew.....I just presumed they had dropped the green test connectors when the OBD port arrived :(
Shaun.... |
It was the OP having a my02 wrx ppp that attracted me to resurrect this thread. So am I looking for green plugs?
