Decat DP = Louder turbo ??

Just fitted a Decat downpipe to my P1 and noticed that the turbo spool up is alot louder, quite pronounced even at low revs. I dont think the exhaust is blowing at all, is this normal?

Thanks

Yes it is normal. Mine is the same now the decat has been fitted.

Im talking really quite loud, spoolup sounds like a diesel transit, but in a nice way. lol even below 3krpm or off the throttle i can hear the turbo spinning.

Yours the same?

It'll be louder and you'll hear it start working earlier- the benefits of a decat mate! :) As long as its a whooshing sound and nothing nasty sounding all should be well with it!

PS, have you got a KL? P1s can run lean on a decat sans remap!

you should get a whoosh as it comes on boost , if you wrapped it you would be better off both ways ...

Yeah its been remapped prior to the DP @ Powerstation, and i fitted a knocklink today, rarely lights first green LED.

Guess theres nothing wrong then, just surprised of the difference in sound.

Cheers Guys

There is a lot less restriction after the turbo thus it spools up faster, the new down pipe is probably stainless steel I assume which also has very different acoustic properties to mild steel..

We have a decat down pipe, the turbo spools faster and is very audiable.. it sounds gorgeous.

Why have you had it mapped prior to the DP fitment? you should really make all your changes then get it mapped after to be safe.
