If you want to stay legal you have a few options - Osram Silverstars & GE Megalights are rated highly - otherwise Halfords do some rather nice Rally bulbs but obviously you can't use them on the road "cough!" ;)

Other than that you'll be looking a driving lamps or a conversion to a pair of silly looking morette's...

Something like these? Silly? Maybe in your eyes, personally, I'd rather SEE where I'm going than pose.;)

BTW the driving lights are HID too.

I upgraded to Osram Silverstar bulbs on MY99 wagon, and the lights are now much brighter, but....................because the standard headlight lenses give a poor beam 'pattern', it is not easy to set the beams up to give you good results.

So my advice would be that a bulb upgrade does improve things, but Morettes or driving lights would be a much better option, albeit more expensive.

Hope that helps!:)

lol @ alcazar - I know the standard lenses are rubbish, I've just never seen any alternatives that look like they belong on the car...

Agree that Osram Silverstars are a big improvement - they seem to come out on top in tests. But has anyone had any probs with longevity? Slapped a pair into my classic about a year ago and the nearside blew a couple of months ago and then the offside went last night! Not great when they cost nearly 20 quid a pair from Powerbulbs...
