Metal prices
We are increasing all our prices by 10% in June because brass prices has gone through the roof.
Anybody else increasing their prices due to metal prices hitting the roof? |
they said on the radio that the scrap value of a 2p coin is 3p due to price of copper going up
|
Them bloody Chinese using all our resources again:mad:
|
London copper prices fell 9% yesterday... not sure the previous vertical climb will resume tbh. But maybe it will, macro pressures (eg China and India) are still there.
|
The price of metals, especially gold (which is very high at the moment) always increase when investers suspect the economy is looking uncertain, and assets such as housing are looking overpriced.
Money from shares and property has been moving in "safe havens" like gold recently, hence the price increases. |
And the government sold all the countries Gold reserves a few years ago to invrest in currency instead  Well done Gordon.
|
Gold is spiky now, but has been flat for donks. Bit harsh to judge the Treasury on that basis.
On the other hand, feck em. |
There has been a huge increase in the price of zinc anodes, I work for a yacht chandlers, gone up from £18.25 to £39.95 for the MG Duff pear shaped ones. Due to china stock piling it. I shall imagine that people like my boss will invest, in buying crate loads of anodes this year as they expect the price of zinc to just keep rising.
Our paint supplier International has warned of huge price increases in anti-fouling becuase anti-fouling is a copper based paint and the price of copper is rocketing. Fortunately for us we bought huge quantities of anifouling and very good prices at the beginning of the year, so should see us very competitive for the next two-three years. This deal about 2p pieces only refers to ones before 1978 I believe as all 2p pieces since then are copper plated steel. |

went to buy some 14 cable today for my car and they told me the price had gone up over a pound for 50m in 3months due to copper prices.
|
Why we now have four security guards on site as our Gypo friends keep steeling our cable and brass cable joints.

We also own a foundry and brass CNC turned parts company so we feeling the pain throughout the group. I want our company to buy a RP machine. that would put our pattern maker out of business :D |

Anyone know what the scrap value is of aluminium at the moment?
Just that I have a fireblade m/c frame to get rid of:) |
Aliminium is good at the minute mate, a decent scrappy may give you about £3.60 per kilo
