Emergency, need disk recovery software :(

Have reinstalled windows today as pc has been playing up past few days. Major problem is that it's not accessing one of my drives with all my mp3s on it, it's saying that the disk is in RAW format, strange thing is that the other 3 partitions on that drive are fine. Need to recover this drive as it has about 80gb of data on it. Anyone know any decent recovery s/w & best way of going about doing this?

Can't you convert the partition back using disk manager ?

JayPSC 12 May 2006 06:53 PM

Think that'll work? Didn't wanna start messing with the the drive in case I can't recover my data...

Get hold of a copy of Partition Magic that may be able to see the data. Or Spinrite 6 may be able to repair any drive structure faults.

Have you even tried a basic checkdisk repair ? It might be enough to restore the data table

This might help with the new options

I'll do it for a fee ;)

its worth downloading this http://moje.olousek.com/hirensbootcd80.rar

there are some good partition utilities on there.

Id also suggest the following:

BartPE
Knoppix
ERD Commander

This seems to be what you are describing :)

Used the link suggested by lightening101 - Easeus Data Recovery Wizard Pro.
Cost about £65 in the end, bit annoying but worth it.
Easy recovery found all the files but gave them names like file001.mp3 etc, didn't fancy sorting & renaming 12,000 files. The Easeus software kept all original names & dir structure. Spinrite didn't like it either.

Many thanks guys
Jay
