Just bought a WRX my95,its still restricted.....

After alot of looking, tested a silver my95, liked it enough and at £3000 not a bad price really, pretty standard, its still got the original clocks and is still restricted, clocks go upto 120 mph.

how do i go about de-restricting it and changing dials etc, is it just the facia i change as in a sticker over the dials or are the whole clcoks changed,do they always read in kph, mileage wise ? i realise the restrictor is a bit more than this LOL

another question, accelerated hard from 3rd to 4th then just went into 5th and didnt accelerate as i was doing enough speed etc and i heard a whistle/pssst noise, no dump valve on it, is this normal ?

i pick it up tomorrow.

here it is....

fitting a 'dongle' will convert the speedo to read the numbers Mph instead of Kmh and remove the 112 Mph limiter. The odometer will now also count in miles so it will be a mixture of km's to date, then miles.

Hope you enjoy it! :thumb:

You'd be much better advised to leave it restricted.

so, i fit the dongle thingy, then do i have to fit some sort of mph dials set, as the main part is in mph, kph were the smaller numbers on the inner part, but the mph stop at 120, so if it were de-restrcited,the needle would go off the clock as it stops at 120, or am i missing something ??

Also, the gears were quite close toghether, is that normal, in my sport they were quite far apart, but 1st to 2nd were hardly any movement of stick and so on, went in o.k tho, no judder like my last one !!

as bubba po said leave it alone. how many times can you go above 120 on public roads. its not safe. and you run the risk of blowing your engine. when going that fast!

nice car btw.;)
