Pug 106 GTI vs 2000 Seat Ibiza 20vt

Wondering how the two above cars compare in performance as I am considering buying one of them. The Ibiza is not the cupra R but the 156bhp version. I am well aware of the Seats better build quality etc but am interested in raw performance.

CHEERS EVERY1!:luxhello:

My wee brother has a 106 and it is brilliant. Excellent lift off oversteer and gave my old classic UK turbo a reasonable run for its money. The build quality is not the best and the seats are crap but I love em!!!

Cannot comment on the Seat.

cheers for that id heard they where supposed 2 handle pretty well!

They are very predictable and loads of fun! Just avoid lowering them at the rear as it f*cks up the rear beam......... Same thing has happened on my 205 GTI track car!

I had a gTI before my scoob............

our lass has the seat ibiza 20v turbo Fr model and its not too bad, not the quickest car i've ever driven but its fast for its size.

the toys inside are smart though, climate control and electric everything. interior is out of an audi, enqine is audi and the chassis is a golf gti chassis with stiffer suspension so it corners on rails

106 are quick little cars that handle really well, but are unreliable.

The Cupra's are better built also quite quick cars, and easy to tune because they're turbo's, they can be chipped to not far off 200bhp and with an ihi turbo conversion can go up to about 340bhp.

340bhp in a fwd car? That would be undriveable IMO

Probably, wouldn't know i haven't had a go of one.

Theres someone on here with one. He's always on here saying how much quicker than scoobies it is so it must be drivable. Wouldn't imagine they would be much traction in 1st or 2nd gear though, or 3rd for that matter

Oh you could drive it, but there's no way it'll deploy the power effectively; it wouldn't see which way even a std scooby went as soon as you introduce bumps, cambers, water, bends .... A mate of mine had a tuned Alfa with the wonderful V6 engine- I believe it was sitting at around the 280bhp mark. Its handling was acceptable in the dry and as long as conditions weren't too tricky and bends not too tight. The ride quality was appalling though!! It simply did not work in the wet or on bumpy surfaces. ie. the majority of UK roads!! :D

It is you wanna put it to the test. And i am always on here regarding a lot of subjects from heating systems to Air rifles to employment not just how much quicker i am compared to the slowberu's of Teesside. Have a look in my profile my post topics are wide and varied compared to many subaru owners.

As for Seat or Pug. I have only ever heard of people going to the seat from the pug not the other way around. I would say Seat but i would LOL.

Not refuting what you say, however my wee brothers has not missed a beat in 2 years appart from an idling problem which the dealer sorted for under £50.

At the end of the day, these cars are similair yet very different and perhaps not a fair comparison.

I can vouch that Gary's Ibiza is indeed very quick! Last year we had a little play off a roundabout onto a dual carriageway and we reached 125 maltesers per hour before he managed to get enough traction to get by me. This was from a second gear rolling thrash through the gears and it was dry  It has gotta be a nightmare in the wet Gary surely? I know my previos 190BHP, 2.0 16V Nova certainly was!
