GATSO caught me on the other side of dual carriageway!!! Will I get one?

Hi all,
I think I am in deep sh!t:brickwall :wonder:  .... was going down this dual carrige way near Oldbury tonight. Over took this metro at a touch under 60 and not noticing a Gatso was on the opposite side of the dual carriageway and resulted a couple flashes. As I was overtaking my car was on the middle of the the white horizontal lines.

Do you guys have any knowledge on this? Will I get a fine even though the gatso was the the opposite side of the dual carriageway(pavement not central carriage)? ......defo Gatso and not Truvelo!!!

Any advise would be grateful!!!:notworthy
Thanks in advance:)

Not likely to say the least as gatsos are only home office aproved to take photos of cars travelling away afaik!

ALi-B 29 April 2006 12:09 AM

Well, I've been flashed a few time by cameras facing me on the opposite side of the road and never had a NIP :)

Trap2Terrorist 29 April 2006 12:10 AM

AFAIK, you cannot be done by a GATSO on the other side of the road (99% sure). I wouldn't be worried by a GATSO flashing me head on.

:luxhello:

I said expect a NIP in the post ..... didn't say when, but you clearly speed - so it will happen.

And I offered advice ..... SLOW DOWN.

Its the best post you will see tonight!!

BTW pslewis, shall I edit my post to spell it.... mate instead of m8???!!! Does it matter if someone spell incorrectly or short spell some words??? As long as its ok to read then its an OK then!!!!;)

scoobfan 29 April 2006 11:43 AM

Gatso's take an image of you driving away from them, not at them.

It's Truvelo camera's that get you whilst driving at them.

Gatso have a square lens opening and Truvelo have round !!

Are you sure it wasn't a Truvelo- they do emit a flash, but a much less intense one?

If it was a Gatso, the I don't think that prosecution was legal. Gatso's are not approved for forward facing use (for obvious reasons). You should look into this!

Correct, a forward facing camera should have a Magenta lens, ie-Truvelo

Just to clarify again what others have picked up.....

GATSO's catch you from the rear, thus facing the other way.

Truvelo's catch you head on and have a red-ish lens cover over the flash (to stop you from getting startled when it goes off).

To end.... if it flashed you head on and was a bright white flash and on the opposite side of the carriageway you would of not been nabbed.

Regards,
Shaun.

If it was a gatso camera you definatly won't get anything through. I used to work for ripspeed and was given full training of all speed detection devices when snoopers and the like were launched (a fair while ago now). They stated with 100% certainty that you can't be caught by a gatso on the opposite side of the road. I have recently read though that this may be possible with some of the new digital gatso's. This is the ones that are usually on taller posts and smaller than the older style cameras. I now am very carefull when near this style camera. The older ones definatly can't get you though..
Nice to see Mr Lewis confirming his first bull**** statement with another one from his other account!! nice one!
