Which , in your opinion are the best mudflaps, the genuine subaru ones look quite good but are expensive at £42 + vat, any recommendations along with piccies would be helpful

Go with the Subaru ones - they are probably worth it. They don't look too obvious and have saved my car from serious stone chip damage around the wheel arches. They will easily pay for themselves IMHO. Cheers Chris |
The Prodrive ones which cost 20 quid for a set who wants to pay 200 quid for mud flaps? you could have a new back box for that.
|
I think pussy flaps are the best.
A big set of pussy flaps will stop all that mud. Where's my gay Cosworth gone? |

you have mail mate!!!!!!!!!!! |
Chris,
how do the standard Subaru mudflaps fix to the arches? Have been pricing various options, including sourcing the Material direct from the suppliers. Problem is very few scoobs up here have any fitted so I can't sneak a look at brackets/fixings etc. Thanks, Mike. |
I've just bought the standard Subaru ones (not the aero thingies) for 42 + VAT for the fronts only and am not impressed. They fit very badly. They are held on by 3 bolts which replace the wheelarch studs and when you tighten them up the flap distorts and there is a large gap between the side panel and the flap. Looks terrible. (and before you ask no they are not overtightened- the problem is that the flap is the wrong shape - the molding does not sit flush on the sill end).
|
I think you'll find that the problem with the flaps is that they are not specific to the turbo, they fit much better on cars without the sill covers.
|
Ron,
The flaps are definitely for the turbo. it says on the box Mud Flap Front .... Subaru Impreza Turbo SACC1417. Could they be the wrong ones in the box I wonder ? However they are fine when you just offer them up - its fixing them thats the problem. |
Who is this "tosspot" character?

Glen, honestly the £42 Subaru ones are worth every penny ... I had a very nasty stonechip on the nearside wing ... nothing since I had them fitted and where the car was ... a lot of contact with stones ... so really ... buy them. |
Rebecca/Chris L,
Have you also found your Subaru flaps to be ill fitting? |
Well, let's just say they were quite flexible ....
OK then ... illfitting.... but assumed that was to allow easy cleaning .... the point is ... they do the job [Edited by Rebecca - 10/28/2001 10:54:10 AM] |
