Help! Golf Mk2 16V won't start, no fuel pump noises

Just finished ripping a shoddily fitted (and shoddily built, to be fair) immobiliser out of my valve, and now it won't fire. I've reconnected all the wiring as VW intended, and it now turns over which is a step forward, but there is no fuel pump noise from the rear. The problem is I've only got a Haynes manual to work from, and as far as tracing goes it's useless, according to them the fuel pump relay is at position 2 on the fuse board, but that works the intermittent windscreen wipers:confused:

Can anyone please point me in the right direction as to where the fuel pump relay actually is on an '89 K-Jet fitted 16V:

Have a look on http://www.clubgti.co.uk/forum/ for some advice

Have you tried (carefully) putting 12v across the fuel pump to make sure it's working?

Cheers for the link, I'll give them a try.

I have tried putting 12V to the wire that supposedly goes to the fuel pump, but I've not been under the car and connected the pump directly yet.

Sorted:thumb:

Turns out that the black box that controls the sparks also controls the fuel pump. The wire that supplies power to said black box had been trapped & partially severed by whichever numptie fitted the alarm, as a result it was causing intermittent & finally zero signals:(

New length of wire, total excorcism of alarms & immobilisers and car now runs like a dream:thumb:
