INDUCTION KITS

As im new to all this ,can some one tell me about inductio kits, i was lead to believe they gave u an extra 4 bhp and but after comming on here and reading different posts it seems i was mislead again ,:o

Im no expert, but I believe they do give you a small boost in horsepower if done correctly, however you need to ensure they are getting a cold air feed too. Otherwise they just suck in very hot air which means no extra power and possibly damage to the engine in the long run...

mine was just a cone filter which replaced the old box ,great been done again:norty:

Just remove the resonator box in the wing it will let more air get to the induction kit.
Make sure that the induction kit is properly secured or the vibrations could affect the MAF also a lot of people go on about you don't need an induction if you are running less than 350bhp.

buckybri 20 April 2006 09:37 PM

350 i wish

i've got a 93 wrx with an induction kit (apexi) no problems with the MAF had it for 3 years running about 280bhp, a mate has a 94 wrx with one (HKS) running 310bhp he hasn't had a problem.

what is maf:cuckoo:

Mass Airflow Sensor. Exactly the same as ann air flow meter.

buckybri 20 April 2006 10:07 PM

is that the censor that fits on the filter? i have learnt a lot 2day

myblackwrx 20 April 2006 11:00 PM

yes if you look in it you will see a wire hanging down thats the sensor (don't touch it cos its sensitive)
Do you have a kit already on it or looking for one to put on?
If you are looking to buy one do not buy one that is oiled as the oil can come of and onto the wire and f**k it up.
the japanes filters (blitz,HKS and apexi aren't oiled, the blitz filter is stainless steel i think)

i bought a powertec kit ,is it any good ?:wonder:

Have completed a number of back to back tests with an induction kit and standard airbox on a newage. In my opinion, I would stick with the airbox which is more than man enough to supply enough air for up to 380bhp. For a paltry £40 an uprated panel filter repeatedly gave circa 8-10bhp increase, without the need to stress about under bonnet heat soak.
