ADSL MAX

For anyone who has upgraded and plays online games, have you asked for the interleaving to be switched off to reduce latancy?

Also what kind of speed is everyone getting?

TopBanana 19 April 2006 05:03 PM

I get 3.5 Mb. Latency appears unaffected so interleaving hasn't been switched on (yet). Might take a few days before BT decide to switch it on.

not seeing any changes to my in game speed - ping might of increased but not sure at the mo - i am keeping an eye on it

was told I would get 3mb but seeing average 5mb with a peak of 6.5mb !!!!! but I am waiting for the 10 day learning time to see what my rate will settle at

DemonDave 19 April 2006 07:14 PM

bugger - looks like I am interlacing - pings are up :(

Anyone care to tell me what this interlacing is and where to read up on it?

Not noticed any problems here yet once the line had settled down. Still 17ms to my game server.

could be blunt and say STFW

How bad is it Dave? 10 ms I can live with, any more and I'll have to ask for it to be turned off.

Hmm, I thought it was on by default. Do they only switch it on to improve a dodgy connection then?

kernel 20 April 2006 05:31 PM

The stuff DemonDave pointed me to state that Interleaving will be set to Auto by default, which is off. The system will turn on if the line is struggling and turn it off again when conditions improve. At least is that is how I understood it.

DemonDave 20 April 2006 05:43 PM

spot on - I was promised a 3mb connection and I am getting 5mb so my auto settings seems to be on to enable a poor connection to be quicker

I will see tonight on the server how bad it is - my ping was showing as 30s before and I am now seeing 50s but then I have to weigh up downloads against game playing !

Dave.
