One man's extravagent is another man's budget. How much do you want to spend a night?

taihape 18 April 2006 03:28 PM

Novotel, secure car park , 10 min walk from city centre , swimming pool , good deals via laterooms

spectrum48k 18 April 2006 03:46 PM

£120 max per room

(£60 per person)

I can't personally recommend anything, but check out www.tripadvisor.com. NY ain't the cheapest

TopBanana 18 April 2006 04:56 PM

I stopped at the Monkbar Hotel in York, a couple of years ago which was ok.

At least I think it was in York!!

My memory is not what it was, sorry what was the question again :)

Dean Court next to the Minster 01904625082
Postern House above Wetherspoons pub 5 mins walk 01904521160
Ramada Encore 08704430029 8 seconds from centre 15 seconds at 0300 08704430029

Ramada Encore means you will not get lost as it is on the Micklegate run where all the totty is!

York is not well endowed with great hotels - you could add the Royal York where the refurbished rooms are quite nice.

There is also a Hilton which is pretty basic. Moat house is full of PSLs mates so stay away from there.

Or just the premier travel inn slap bang in the miggil, residents only bar, secure parking, near to many funky hostelries including a swanky converted church which is right near a rather smashing curry house etc... All 300yds from Yates' etc 6" wide double beds, sky tv oh and free biscuits... :norty:

:lol1:

Could've used that last November - stayed at the Waldorf in NYC!

Thanks all for the recommendations - granted York isn't renowned for its hotels but I'm finding getting 8 twin rooms difficult - big hotels are taken.
