BEST PLACE TO GET YOUR WHEELS POWDER COATED

I'm in Glasgow. I was going to get S&S to do it (I am sure a guy I know got them to do it; albeit with them outsourcing the work) as it needs to go in for new rear shockers and 2 new tyres so I was going to use them as a one shop stop, unless anyone has any better ideas? I only have 1 spare and do not want to leave the car with anyone other than a specialist or S & S.

Stephen, give this guy a try!

Wicked Wheels-Bill Blair-07976 402341

He is used by the Subaru dealership(s) in the Central belt and comes highly recommended. He can even do it @ your house as they have a fully kitted out van:eek:

It was Ian Grieve in Falkirk that gave me his number and I've to arrange a date to get mine done.

MMM, was just thinking that!!! I want the wheels to be returned to the car after they have been powder coated!!!

S&S quoted me £50 a wheel!!! I have PFF7's (relica Prodrives) that need powder coating and 2 new tyres so by the time this is all added up, I might be better off picking up a second hand set of genuine second hand Prodrive wheels with tyres.

Cheers for the replies anyway guys.

Have yu used ESP before?

Aly Mac 19 April 2006 10:50 PM

I would use Carrick engineering in Prestwick (a few scoobs I know have used him) to get them done, very good prices and very good finish, got my 19s done for £120 which was the best price I got after trying alot of places, some quoted £50 a wheel!

Cheers

Ive got the number for a guy just outside Mauchline in Ayrshire who does a crackin job and did all the work for RMS, he's done 3 different sets of wheels for me and a few for my mates, every job has been spot on. Think its about 25-30 quid a wheel. Let me no if u want his number m8

Cheers mate; gave them a buzz and they quoted £32.50 cash a corner. Someone had already given me their number and they came highly recommended.

Basically, as noted above, I can get PJ Powder Coating to do an excellent job for £32.90 (or £28.00 cash) and I could walk there if I wanted (not with the wheels right enough!!!)

DanTerzo - 25 - 30 is a good price although the distance and associated petrol probably writes off any saving I would make compared to that noted above.

Edited to say: My father in law works in Ayr and could drop off the wheels - please can you give me the number just in case.

In conclusion if anyone knows of somewhere close to the southside of Glasgow at a reasonable cost (or someone furher away that is MUCH cheaper,) then please let me know.

Only problem now is - anthrocite or gold - a real dilema for me!!!

Cheers for the replies lads!!!

There was a David Wilson in my year at Woodfarm High - is that you (30?)

I ended up using P&J - very satisfied with the result (albeit a darker shade of gold.) I had used them years ago and was happy then. I kerbed one of my alloys back then and that caused the laquer to be damaged, the water got in etc etc. My fault and not P&J's IMHO.

Maybe a stupid question (but never coated any wheels before), but does Powder coating only give a dull finish? I've seen pics previous sets powder coated and they were dull. I was after a bright finish.

Don't think so, they are laquered on completion to give a sheen. Got them back on the car last night with 2 new tyres:

Darker: (And after a good thrashing which made the wheels darker with brake dust)

How about down south?

I went to a pristine wheels agent in Wycombe, but didn't have MY02 WRX 17" wheels in exchange stock. I was hoping they did because to hand in the current wheels to be refurbished and powder coated in anthracite will take around 5-10 days at 70 quid a corner. too long for too much.:brickwall
