what is the A11 like to drive up
 

As above really.
going on a golf weekend just outside norwich mid may. the A11 seems to be the most direct route.
was wondering what it's like for traffic/scameras/police hiding in laybys etc.....
i'll be travelling up on friday morning, leaving jct6 m25 about 6:15. if there is a better route i'd be open to ideas.

Never travelled up it at that time, but the times I have been up (mostly Saturday mornings) from the M11 to Norwich, it's fine apart from the single carriageway stretch near Elvedon Forest - that bit really does crawl. Can't say I've ever noticed too much police activity but there are cameras around Elvedon Forest again IIRC.

Going down is the pain

Go up M11, A11, joins A14, come off A11. After roundabout its single carriageway for 10 miles or so inc Elveden but then after the next roundabout it opens up to d/c for the rest of the way (a few roundabouts).

Watch out for Norfolk Safety Camera Scheme on the A11 quite often, normally north of Snetterton on bridges and Suffolk/Cambs equiv on slip downs along the route. Listen to VibeFM on 106.4 for where Camera Teams are.

Theres one camera as the A11 joins the A14 but that is it.
