recommended upgrades

Hi all

I am now the owner of a MY99 2000 trurbo Impreza and wondered what upgrades you would suggest with a budget of say 500 pounds?

think this model is normally about 220bhp ans 0-60 in 5.5 secs, is that correct?

I want to keep the car standard apart from some minor upgrades, i would like to get it to 250bhp, the car prob has a standard exhaust except for the TSL Firestorm B/B

Also, what things should i look at as a must do in terms of servicing, the car has done 75K but does have a full service histor

Cheers in advance

A free flow down pipe and a K+N Panel filter would be on budget.

If it has a full service history and it was done properly then everything should be in check.
Suspension might be getting a bit tired by now if it's still standard, if you didn't do the engine upgrades then your other option would be a set of dampers and springs, again that takes you up to budget and leaves no room for much else. :D

The part of the exhaust system that connects behind the turbo, a sports CAT in this instead of the restrictive standard one will keep it MOT friendly.

Do i want a full decat system?
Not if you want to pass an MOT. Although with no cats in the system it will release a few more horses. :D

If a full decat system is on.. NO but it can be fudged for MOT day by putting on a centre section with a cat in it (much easier and quicker to change this than the downpipe.)

There are plenty of places to start modifying these things, to do it the "best" way you should really look at making the chassis handle and the brakes stop before upgrading the power, not that it's wrong to do the engine first or anything.
It's a "possibility" that the shocks are getting tired not a definite.
You could have a set of eibach or prodrive springs on a set of Sti dampers.
or purchase some KYB struts for about £375 quid new.
With the springs that is all your budget..
Or you could spend a few hundered quid on anti roll bars and antilift kit etc...
the tuning world is your oyster. :D
